Types of pilot licenses and exams


We secure pilot training courses, ranging from private pilot to airline transport pilot. Licenses and examinations are listed in the recommended succession.

No matter which pilot career you choose, first you have to undergo is private pilot training:

Private Pilot License training PPL


Qualification for a private pilot PPL (private pilot license) authorizes the pilot to conduct private, recreational or sporting single-engine plane flights during the day in sight of land.
This license allows you to fly 6 seat’s aircraft.

Unless you are native english speaker you must pass an examination in aviation English, so-called ICAO English, of Grade 4 at least. You pass the exam with an authorized examiner of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). You can study by yourself for the exam or we can provide you a preparatory course for the exam.

Every pilot must have an Radiotelephony operator license prior to his/her first solo (individual) flight at least. Radiotelephony operator license gives you the right to use a radio station on board of an aircraft. You have to pass a test by certified company to get an international Radiotelephony operator license.

Additional examinations and courses for PPL pilots, so-called “hobby flying”


The qualification gives you the right to fly after sunset. You can complete the night rating training already in the final part of the private pilot (PPL) training. Qualification Night rating is as an extension of your pilot license and is not a compulsory part of the PPL training.

Instrument flight qualification gives you the right to perform the so-called EIR flights (Enroute Instrument Rating). This qualification is especially suitable as an extension of PPL, when you can continue your route flight under instrument meteorological conditions. This means that you take off and land under good visibility, however you can continue the flight even if you are forced to enter a cloud or fly above the clouds.

The course is designed for VFR pilots (Visual Flight Rules). Its main motive is security and safe flying. In this course you can learn how to pilot when entering the Instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) during VFR flight – safe guidance to the nearest airport with use of instrument approach and land safely in case of IMC conditions.

The course is for GA (General Aviation) pilots. Its main aim is to learn how to use a modern navigation device such as Garmin 1000. Thanks to the quick and proper control of Garmin 1000 you can increase the safety of your flight and the actual piloting of the aircraft become a great pleasure. Ground training uses Simulator G1000 – a unique training device, fully functional simulation of Garmin 1000 in the cockpit.

Pilot licenses and qualifications for professional pilots

For the follow-up types and extensions of training, we recommend you to go through the complete theory ATPL 650 h because it involves both knowledge necessary for IR/EIR and CPL, which is more than 80% of knowledge necessary for the complete ATPL training.

A pre-condition for this qualifications is also a sufficient knowledge of the English language, confirmed by passing ICAO English examination.


Qualification for instrument flights gives you the right to perform the so-called IFR flights (Instrument Flight Rules). The pilot has the right to fly under the weather conditions for IMC instrument flight. The qualification for instrument flights is different for single-engine aircraft and multi-engine aircraft. IR is an essential part of the airliner pilot training.

Qualification for a Commercial Pilot License CPL allows you to fly airplanes as a professional pilot. This means that you can perform commercial flights such as sightseeing flights or you can work as an instructor. After you complete the theoretical ATPL training and pass all the examinations, you also obtain the right to perform the function of a airline co-pilot.

MEP qualification (Multi-Engine Piston) gives you the right to fly multi-engine one-pilot aircraft. This qualification is necessary for follow-up training of an airline pilot. It is a basic qualification criterium if you want to participate in an open competition in order to get a job with a big aviation company.

The Multi-crew co-operation training is necessary for the work as an airline pilot on multi-pilot aircraft (MPA). MCC qualification is required (or very useful) if you apply for a job at an airline company.
The course aims to prepare a pilot for work on multi-pilot aircraft, which fly at IFR conditions (Instrument Flight Rating).

ATPL represents the highest level of pilot training. Airline Transport Pilot License gives the right to work in the function of a commander of multi-pilot and one-pilot aircraft on a commercial basis.
Airline Transport Pilot License can be obtained by a holder of a Commercial Pilot License provided that he/she has accomplished theoretical ATPL (A) training and examinations at CAA, CPL(A) license + MEP + IR (SEP/MEP) + MCC and min. number of flight-hours on aircraft 1500 hours.


One of the conditions for obtaining the above-mentioned licenses is also the number of hours flown on airplanes with a certain type of equipment. It is called time building.
