Worship Service at Kladno Airport
On Thursday, September 16, 2021, an unusual spiritual event, a Holy Mass, took place at Kladno Airport. The Mass was celebrated directly on the wing of a Cessna 350 aircraft in the hangar at Kladno Airport. The Mass was conducted by the Rector of the Archbishop’s Seminary and also a student and pilot of our flight school, Mgr. Jan Kotas.
The service was dedicated to all aviators, their families, and loved ones. We also prayed for the neighbors and surrounding communities. During the Mass, the priest blessed not only all those present but also the local aircraft.
A point of interest in the Holy Mass was the chalice used for the service. Cardinal Dominik Duka, along with a war diary from the time of the Battle of Britain, donated it to Priest Jan Kotas. The chalice belonged to a military chaplain from the Royal Air Force. With this chalice, services were held at the Duxford airport, from where our fighters from the 310th Squadron also took off.
