The first aim of this short course is to prepare you for success on the ICAO English Test. Success in this case means achieving a score of 4 or above on each of the exam’s measures.
The second, related aim of this course is to help you to become a safe, efficient and effective communicator, in a worldwide industry where safe, efficient and effective communication is highly valued… and essential.
For us, language acquisition is not a purely intellectual endeavour. Successful understanding and use of a language is the combined result of need, passion, repetition and, of course, fun! That is why this short course includes various multimedia, simulations and other activities designed to improve the different components of Aviation English and your skills so that you can successfully pass the ICAO English exam.
We offer the preparatory course in 2 variants. For those who really want to prepare thoroughly there is a 10 hour preparation course. For a quick review and refresher, we offer a 3 hour preparation course on the day of the exam (morning before the exam). You can always choose the option of a face to face course or an online course.
The syllabus below, derived from Philip Shawcross’ Flightpath, is only a draft. Each course will be tailored to the specific needs of the student. Two hours of the course are devoted to flights to/from controlled/uncontrolled airports and the last hour is devoted to the entire ICAO English test simulation.
The 3-hour ICAO English preparation course is designed for those interested in taking the ICAO English test. The aim of the preparatory course is to learn the individual topics of the exam together with the Aviation English instructor so that the candidate can easily navigate through the different phases of the ICAO English test and achieve the best possible result in the test. Similar topics are then used in the test. The ICAO English preparatory course can be taken in person or online. It is normally held on the day of the examination prior to the ICAO English test.

It is also possible to “refresh” a 3-hour preparatory course on the day of the ICAO EN exams on the announced date. This course is online only, once a month on the day of the exam from 9:00-12:00 CET.
