Medical fitness is one of the basic requirements for obtaining a pilot licence. Based on the medical examination, the pilot is issued a Pilot Medical Certificate. The Pilot Medical Certificate is issued by an authorised medical facility or an authorised medical practitioner in accordance with the European EASA/PART-MED legislation. It is issued in several levels / classes – for different types of pilot licence.
You can take your medical examination in any EASA Member State, indicating the State that issues/issued your pilot licence. The medical examination must be repeated periodically.
To obtain a PPL/LAPL Private Pilot Licence you need a Medical Certificate – Class 2 at least. The medical examination is minor and is not usually precluded by common medical limitations e.g. common visual impairments.
We provide health examination for our clients with a private doctor MUDr. David Melechovský.
What to take with you:
The Class 1 medical certificate is required for the CPL Commercial Pilot and ATPL Airline Transport Pilot licences. Which medical facility or doctor you choose to obtain is up to you. However, make sure that the medical facility is authorised to issue certificates according to European standards and EASA/PART- MED legislation.
In the Czech Republic, only the Institute of Aviation Medicine in Prague issues Medical certificates – Class 1. Another option is to take the examination in another European Union country, we have good experience with the Air Military Hospital in Košice, Slovakia or the Air Medical Clinic in Vienna, Austria.

How to convert or validate your pilot license that you obtained abroad, or in a state outside the European Union (EU), e.g. in the United States under FAA legislation or in the Russian Federation under FAVT to a European one under EASA legislation?
